Tenuta Sant’Elia is a historic farmhouse dating back to the 1500s, which was renovated and fortified in the 1990s. Over time, the farmhouse has been transformed into a hospitality facility, serving as an ideal location for weddings and events. The change of use triggered the need to increase the seating capacity, which is why it was decided to cover the large internal courtyard with a structure. The roofing project was entrusted to our company, which handled the design, manufacturing, and installation.
The result is a transparent covering that integrates perfectly into the pre-existing architectural context, creating highly harmonious spaces. The structure was realized by assembling Marte Pergolas with steel trusses and a double retractable system using Cristal Trio in the lower part and PVC in the upper part. Cristal Trio is a PVC film with high transparency and flexibility, characterized by extraordinary dimensional stability that makes it ideal for large-format projects. It was developed by the Giovanardi company in their research and development laboratories to ensure maximum performance in every situation.
The slender and transparent architecture that distinguishes the structure offers a fundamental advantage: it integrates perfectly into the pre-existing building and allows for a panoramic view despite being in an enclosed setting. The versatility of the retractable pergolas, however, allows for conditions to be modified according to specific needs, such as weather conditions or an event requiring a totally darkened environment. In the installation at Tenuta Sant’Elia, Cristal Trio provides the structure with excellent aesthetic performance, ensuring the possibility of enjoying the surrounding landscape in absolute comfort. Thanks to its lightness and flexibility, it allows for the easy opening and closing of environments, recreating indoor & outdoor spaces in just a few minutes. This has made it possible to create a unique reception hall with a view of the sky and a capacity of 400 people.
